Search Hendricks County Dockets

A Hendricks County docket search starts with Indiana's public case system, then uses the county clerk when the online view is incomplete. Search by uniform case number, citation, cross-reference, party, business, or attorney. The privacy-filtered Case Summary is not the official court record. Filters help separate similar names and courts. A missing match may reflect spelling, court selection, transfer, confidentiality, or an excluded record, so careful lookup uses the strongest identifier and confirms key facts with the clerk.

Name-Based Case Searches

Indiana MyCase has Case, Name, and Attorney tabs. Begin with last and first name. Middle name and birth date are optional. A business has its own field. Use sounds-like only when spelling is uncertain, then verify every candidate by court, filed date, type, and party role.

  1. Open the official MyCase search.
  2. Enter last and first name or a business name.
  3. Select Hendricks County or the known court.
  4. Add status or dates only when needed.
  5. Open the match and verify its Case Summary.

Three Hendricks MyCase Search Tabs

The Case tab accepts a case number, citation, or cross-reference. Name searches people and businesses. Attorney accepts a public lawyer name or bar number.

The MyCase search tips explain trailing wildcards, sounds-like behavior, number formats, and the 1,000-result ceiling.

Fewer, stronger fields often work better than filling every box.

Case Number Searches

Indiana uniform numbers follow Administrative Rule 8. MyCase accepts supported variants with or without hyphens and leading zeroes. Copy the number from an official notice rather than guessing. A privacy-safe pattern is 32D01-2026-CT-000001.

A citation is not always the final case number. A transfer may add another number or cross-reference. Search each known identifier and ask the clerk when the history suggests a move.

Case Search Results Explained

A result row routes the reader to a Case Summary. The detail can include the case header, parties, attorneys, charges or claims, hearings, documents, orders, judgments, and public financial entries. The CCS lists events in time order.

Case NumberThe uniform identifier and court.
Style / PartiesThe public caption and roles.
Case TypeThe criminal, civil, family, probate, or other code.
Filed DateWhen the case began, not a hearing date.
StatusOpen or closed, not a document-access ruling.

Hendricks Results Need Verification

MyCase is free, but it is not the official record. Financial displays can become stale. A missing document link does not prove the filing is absent from the clerk's file.

The official results template shows list and table views, refinement, pagination, and no-match language.

Two Ways to Search: County and State

MyCase is the statewide public layer for Hendricks Circuit, Superior, and eligible town-court cases. The Hendricks Clerk holds the official county file, certifications, older material, and public records unavailable online.

Historical Avon remains a selector option though its town court closed in 2023. It is a search clue, not an operating counter.

Which Cases Stay Restricted

Adoption, juvenile, many domestic-relations and guardianship matters, protection orders, pre-2014 paternity, sealed records, expunged cases, and other confidential material may be absent or limited. No match does not prove no case exists.

An eligible party may seek a MyCase access code. Public users can ask the clerk about nonconfidential files not shown online. Excluded-record access follows Indiana Access Rules 8 and 9.

When a Hendricks Search Finds Nothing

First check spelling and the identifier source. MyCase accepts supported case-number versions with or without hyphens and leading zeroes, but a digit copied from a notice can still be wrong. For a person, try the minimum name fields before adding a date. Sounds-like can help with a name variant, though it does not replace review of the court, case type, filed date, and party role. A business search supports a trailing wildcard. Do not combine broad techniques so loosely that unrelated results become hard to verify.

Next examine the advanced controls. An Open status filter hides closed cases, while Closed hides open matters. A narrow file-date range can exclude an older filing that has a current hearing. The court selection can also be wrong after a transfer. Search the known cross-reference and both court names when the docket suggests a move. MyCase stops at 1,000 results, so common names require a county, court, category, status, or date limit.

Then consider access. Indiana's access table distinguishes online documents, in-person records, and records unavailable to the general public. Juvenile, adoption, many guardianship and domestic matters, protection orders, older paternity matters, sealed material, and granted expungements can be missing or restricted. The correct response is not to infer the case outcome. Ask the Hendricks Clerk whether a public nonconfidential record is available at the counter or by an agreed request method.

Repeated MyCase use can trigger a CAPTCHA because the public portal limits automated data mining. Current Chrome, Firefox, and Edge are supported, while Internet Explorer is not. A CAPTCHA is a portal control, not a case flag. Clear the challenge, reduce repeated searches, and continue through the official interface rather than turning to an aggregator.

Reading a Hendricks Case Summary

Begin with the court, case number, case type, filed date, and status. Party connection labels identify procedural roles, not findings on the merits. Charges can show offense descriptions, statutes, degree, citation references, and filed or original information. Civil claims and motions have their own labels. A bond entry describes bond data, not disposition.

The Chronological Case Summary records filings, hearings, service, orders, judgments, sentences, and other events. Read the latest relevant entries, especially when an older hearing was reset or canceled. A document count without a public link can still point to a document in the official file. A closed status does not mean every paper is public, and it does not prove every financial obligation is current.

Financial Information can list a balance as of a date, charges, credits, payments, and transactions. MyCase warns that this display can become stale. Use the Hendricks Clerk for a current balance. Likewise, obtain a certified copy from the clerk when authentication matters. The public portal is designed for finding and understanding eligible case information, while the clerk maintains the official record.

Hendricks Search Help at the Clerk

The Hendricks Clerk remains the practical fallback when an identifier is unclear. Give the court, approximate filing date, known party role, and any citation or cross-reference. Ask staff to identify the public record and current request method, not to interpret the legal effect of an entry. The counter at the courthouse supports regular-hours access to public records, while phone contact can confirm routing before a trip. Town-court questions may need Brownsburg or Plainfield staff. A precise question saves repeated searches and reduces the risk of matching the wrong case.

Historical Avon Docket Searches

For an older Avon matter, mention that the former town court closed and its files transferred. For a current Avon Police infraction, check Brownsburg routing under the local rules. These details distinguish a historical MyCase selector entry from a present court assignment and help the clerk locate the right record.

Hendricks Search Filters Can Hide Matches

Status and file dates are advanced controls, not facts to guess. Selecting Open removes closed cases. A narrow date window can hide an older filing with current activity because the filter concerns the filed date. Court categories also change with the selected court. Remove one filter at a time when an expected match disappears.

A citation number, cross-reference, and case number are different identifiers. Enter only one identifier on the Case tab. Traffic users can start with the UTT printed on the citation, while a transferred matter may be easier to trace through cross-reference. The Hendricks Clerk remains the official fallback when the number history is unclear.

Historical Avon adds another local wrinkle. Avon Town Court closed at the end of 2023, but the old court can remain in MyCase as an Odyssey search choice. Use it for eligible older records, not as proof of an active counter. Current Avon Police infractions and ordinance matters route to Brownsburg under the 2026 rules.

Common Hendricks Names Need Care

A common name may require several careful passes. Begin with Hendricks County, then add the likely court or case category. Compare each result's filed date, case type, court, and party role instead of treating a matching name as proof. If more than 1,000 results remain, the portal requires a narrower query. Use a public case number or attorney bar number when available because each is more precise than a name alone.
